Catholic Service Corps St. Margaret Shrine Clean-Up

BRIDGEPORT— More than 150 young people throughout the Diocese will participate in the “Service at the Shrine” Spring clean-up for St Margaret’s Shrine this Sunday April 2, 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm.

The Shrine has been the recipient of two previous Catholic Service Corps service projects.

“It is the Bishop’s desire to help the Shrine continue to provide a prayerful environment for those who visit for contemplation and devotion,” said Michelle Smith, director of the Catholic Service Corps.

Smith said the cleanup project is timed one week before Bishop visits the site for the Palm Sunday Stations of the Cross. The day of volunteer service will end with a reflection and Mass in the shrine chapel.

“The Bishop’s visit will hopefully draw more attention, individuals, and groups to the Shrine to take advantage of this wonderful resource of the Diocese. After our work is completed, we will gather to celebrate Mass at the Shrine,” she added.

St. Margaret’s Shrine includes many outdoor Saint shrine and two chapels. Masses are celebrated Monday through Saturday at 8:15 am; Saturday Vigil at 4 pm, and Sunday at 8am, 9:30 (Italian Mass) and 11am The beautiful grounds include outdoor Shrines of St. Margaret, St. Padre Pio, Our Lady of Fatima, Our Lady of Guadelupe, St. Sebastian, Our Lady of LaVang. The faithful can also pray in St. Anthony Chapel and an All Saints Chapel.
