About 100 swimmers, protected by a fleet of 80 escort boats, 4 kayaks, 3 jet skis and 20 law enforcement boats will swim across Long Island Sound. Proceeds benefit thousands of people in Fairfield County battling cancer. Money is raised to fund prevention, screening, support programs and direct financial assistance to patients. Participants this year come from across Connecticut, surrounding states and as far away as North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.
