Religious Emblems

All Catholic Scouts whether they are Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venturers or Sea Scouts have the opportunity to earn Religious Emblems. Religious Emblems help Scouts grow in their faith and program content is tailored to a Scout's age.

GSA Youth Emblem Awards

Family of God

Geared toward Girl Scouts who are in grades 2 and 3. This National program’s purpose is to help the child explore a wide range of activities and discover the presence of God in her life as a member of their family and parish. Parents and adults serve as advisors to the child and help her grow in religious awareness by talking about the experiences that make up the program.

I Live My Faith

This national award program enables the recipient to grow as a Christian person and to take their place as an active and responsible member of their family, parish, troop, and community.

Mary, the First Disciple

Also known as the Marian Medal, the purpose of this national award program is to provide the recipient with a unique opportunity to develop new insights into herself, friends, family and the world around her.

The Spirit Alive

This program assists Catholic high-school aged girls in discovering how the Holy Spirit moves in their lives, calling them to greater participation in the Church’s ministry.

BSA Youth Emblem Awards

Scouts in Boy Scouts of America. There are five (5) awards that Scouts in Boy Scouts of America can earn while they are an active member of the program: Light of Christ, Parvuli Dei; Ad Altare Dei, Pope Pius XII and Pillars of Faith, for those Scouts that earn all four awards.

Light of Christ

Geared toward Cub Scouts who are 6 or 7 years old (Tiger and Wolf rank Scouts). The purpose of the program is to help the Cub Scout develop a personal relationship with Jesus. With the parents’ active assistance and participation in this program, it is hoped that the Cub Scout will come to see Jesus as a real person and their friend.

Parvuli Dei

geared toward Cub Scouts who are 8 to 10 years old (Bear or Webelo rank Scouts). The purpose of this program is to help the Scout explore a wide range of activities in order to discover the presence of God in their daily lives as members of their families and parishes, and also to develop a good, positive self-image through the contributions they can make to the group or community.

Ad Altare Dei

The purpose of the Ad Altare Dei program is to help Catholic Youth of the Roman Rite develop a fully Christian way of life in the faith community. The program is organized in chapters based on the seven sacraments. The seven sacraments are a primary means toward spiritual growth.

Pope Pius XII

is geared toward Scouts who are 15 to 16 years old or older. Pope Pius XII is Catholic Scouting’s church-related ministries and vocation program. The program deals with different life choices (single, married, religious, ordained), occupations and ministries in the church as calls from God. It includes youth led discussions on current issues facing the church and society.

Pillars of Faith

Pillars of Faith recognizes Scouts in all programs that have successfully completed all four programs.
