Bishop Caggiano to Speak at World Youth Day Unite!

WASHINGTON, D.C.— Young adults from the Diocese of Bridgeport have been invited to join other young people throughout the U.S. for the celebration of World Youth Day Unite in Washington D. C. on Saturday July 22, at the St. John Paul II National Shrine from 11:30 am to 10:00 pm.

World Youth Day UNITE is a national festival where thousands of young adults and young families gather in Washington, D.C. for amazing worship, inspiring talks, engaging break out groups, and more.

The festival theme this year, chosen by Pope Francis, is “The Mighty One Has Done Great Things for Me and Holy is His Name.”

Featured speakers include Bishop Nelson J. Perez of the Diocese of Rockville Centre, and Bishop Frank J. Caggiano of the Diocese of Bridgeport. A vigil Mass will be celebrated by His Eminence, Cardinal Donald Wuerl.

Organizers for World Youth Day Unite said that it channels the spirit and vision of the international World Youth Day celebrations. It is a moment of national unity and authentic communion for all young adults living and working in a broken and divided world. It is open to all.

The festival will also include a Live Concert with Tony Melendez; TED-style talks in Breakout Sessions: Prayer at the Hour of Mercy and Vigil Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception; Confession and spiritual direction available; Praise and worship Eucharistic adoration with Audrey Assad.

Young adults, 18 and over, are invited to join the delegation from the Archdiocese of New York, which will depart by bus from the Church of the Sacred Heart on Friday at 457 West 51st street.The $100 Cost of this trip includes conference registration, round trip bus fare, two nights in a D.C. hotel, breakfast Saturday & Sunday mornings. There is no age limit to attend World Youth Day Unite, however to ride the bus with the Office of Young Adult Outreach, you must be 18 or over. People are also welcome to drive.
