Bishop Fenwick Assembly 100 honors Sir Knight that served

On Saturday, May 14th Knights of Columbus Bishop Fenwick Assembly 100-4th Degree honored 7 Sir Knights that served our great nation at the St Ann Club in Norwalk. The Sir Knights received a certificate and special gift from the Assembly. In addition, the Assembly honored all veterans in attendance. Any Vet that attended had free admission to the dinner.

In attendance was 101 year old WWII veteran Nick Samodel. Mr Samodel was given a special gift by the Assembly, and he received a standing ovation as a thanks for his service. Also, Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling congratulated our Sir Knights being honored and thanked all vets for their service.

Thanks to Air Force Vet and Chairman of the Norwalk Veterans Liaison Committee Jeff DeWitt for being our guest speaker. Jeff spoke about his service as well as the great veterans’ events he and his team are planning in the city of Norwalk over the next 6 months including the replica Vietnam Veterans Memorial “Wall the Heals” that will be set up in Veterans Park in Norwalk from June 2-5th.

“Like Mayor Rilling said earlier in evening, no one does it better than the city of Norwalk in regards to honoring our veterans,” said Assembly 100 Faithful Navigator George Ribellino, Jr.

In addition, Ribellino presented a special appreciation award to Sir Knight Al Latte for his many years of great service to Assembly 100. “Sir Knight Al, has been instrumental in helping coordinate the food aspect of our dinners throughout the years and recently joined the Assembly Color Corps. I can’t thank SK Al enough for everything he did and will continue to do for Assembly 100,” Ribellino went on to say.

A huge shoutout to sponsors Riverside Cemetery, AJ’s Landscaping and Norwalk VFW Post 603. The food provided by our kitchen crew headed by Sir Knight Ken Prince did a phenomenal job with the great dinner they provided. Thanks to Vicki Perez for the beautiful and tasty military tank cake. Great work by all the Sir Knights who assisted with being waiters, set up and clean up. Faithful Navigator George Ribellino would like to thank Al Latte, Scott Criscuolo and Giuseppe Pampena and Lee Pino for helping organize a beautiful tribute to our veterans.
