Young adults from the Diocese of Bridgeport were invited to join Bishop Frank Caggiano and other young people throughout the U.S. for the celebration of World Youth Day Unite – a national festival where thousands of young adults and young families gather in Washington, D.C. for amazing worship, inspiring talks, engaging break out groups, and more – on Saturday July 22, at the St. John Paul II National Shrine from 11:30 am to 10:00 pm.

The 2017 festival theme, chosen by Pope Francis, was “The Mighty One Has Done Great Things for Me and Holy is His Name.”

Featured speakers included Bishop Nelson J. Perez of the Diocese of Rockville Centre, and Bishop Frank J. Caggiano of the Diocese of Bridgeport. A vigil Mass was celebrated by His Eminence, Cardinal Donald Wuerl.

Organizers for World Youth Day Unite said that it channels the spirit and vision of the international World Youth Day celebrations. According to them, it is a moment of national unity and authentic communion for all young adults living and working in a broken and divided world.
