BRIDGEPORT—Leland Melvin, NASA astronaut, will be addressing 6th-8th graders from the Catholic Academy of Bridgeport school in Sacred Heart University’s Performing Arts Center on Monday, May 22nd at 9 am.
Following that, he will be visiting two of the campuses: St. Raphael’s to read to children grades 1-3 and St. Augustine’s to meet with students in 4th and 5th grades.
DARIEN—There was an excitement in the room at Woodway Country Club last night at the second Foundations in Education Spring Gala, which drew business and education leaders throughout Fairfield County.
The Society of the Sacred Heart is an order of Catholic nuns created in 1800 by St. Madeleine Sophie Barat. It has more than 2,500 members around the world who dedicate themselves to teaching Catholic education.
It wasn’t this rich history or this particular line of work that attracted Sister Joan Magnetti to the group, however.

NORWALK—The 600-seat auditorium at All Saints Catholic School was sold out as the cast of the school’s Drama Club performed “Annie Jr.” to capacity crowds on Friday night, March 31, and Saturday afternoon, April 1.
Every other week, students at St. Ann Academy in Bridgeport can be found engaging in team-bonding games and drills. This exercise is part of a new positive climate initiative that St. Ann has kicked off this year.

The sixth-grade class at Assumption Catholic School, under the direction of teacher Maureen Travers, raised $1,025 for Operation Rice Bowl, an international organization that is committed to helping to create positive change around the world.

All Saints Students help “Keep Christ in Christmas” with annual Knights’ poster contest. In a celebration of the true meaning of the Christmas season, nearly 500 students from All Saints Catholic School recently submitted entries in the Knights of Columbus’ annual Keep Christ in Christmas poster contest.
