Gate of Heaven Cemetery
Nestled in a parklike setting with rolling hills and surrounding woods, Gate of Heaven Cemetery provides a serene final resting place for family, friends and neighbors. This is a very active cemetery with many graves decorated seasonally by relatives. Flowering trees, Easter flowers and palm crosses in the spring are followed by a green summer lawn shaded by mature oak and maple trees. In the fall the surrounding woods provide a stunning display of New England foliage, and through the Christmas season, wreaths and holiday logs dot the cemetery in remembrance of those who have passed. Pets are permitted in the cemetery provided they are on a leash and cleaned up after.
Gate of Heaven Mausoleums
On a hillside overlooking the entire cemetery, the St. Monica Mausoleum provides a quiet respite to visit with deceased loved ones. A traditional stained-glass window on the back wall of this stone building enables the afternoon sun to cast a colorful light on the statue of Christ which welcomes visitors. In 2021 construction began on the new St. Catherine of Siena Mausoleum which is adjacent to St. Monica. Stunning architecture surrounds an open-air atrium and the building will contain 1,100 crypt and niche units. Construction is expected to be completed in the Spring of 2022.
