St. Mary/Putnam Cemetery History

St. Mary/Putnam CemeterySt. Mary/Putnam Cemetery is the crown jewel of the Diocese of Bridgeport’s portfolio of burial grounds. The 75 acres of expansive, rolling property makes it ideal for exploring the headstones and tombstones of the notable former residents interred there. Pets are now permitted to join you provided they are on a leash and cleaned up after.

Visitors are drawn to the Milbank Mausoleum, built in the late 1800’s by Jeremiah Millbank, the co-founder of Borden’s Milk Company. Other grave sites include Victor Borge, the entertainer, and Prescott Sheldon Bush, the father of U.S. President George H.W. Bush and grandfather of President George W. Bush.

Funeral Advanced (Pre-need) Planning

Advanced (Pre-need) funeral planning should be considered an important part of your financial and retirement planning. The COVID pandemic risks have increased the urgency of this practical precaution.

Contact our cemetery family advisors about advanced planning, burial rights/options, purchasing tombstones, gravestones, or headstones, and touring the cemetery. Please also note that we take your safety seriously and all meetings will be held in a clean, safe, and socially distanced facility. Pets are permitted to join you provided they are on a leash and cleaned up after.

We are here to answer your questions and help you plan/manage the difficult and emotional task of burying your loved ones.
