Conversation with Catechists this weekend

BRIDGEPORT—Bishop Frank J. Caggiano will share his vision for lifelong Faith Formation in a special Conversation with Catechists on Saturday, October 28, 8:30 to 11:00 at All Saints Catholic School, 139 W. Rocks Road, Norwalk.

The Bishop has invited all catechists throughout the diocese to attend one of two meetings to have a conversation with him about reimagining faith formation in parishes.

His talk will focus on adopting new forms of catechesis and community that help people encounter Christ in the 21st century.

For those unable to attend in Norwalk, a second presentation will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm in the Queen of Saints Hall at the Catholic Center in Bridgeport.

The session will include a report on the newly released Catechetical Task Force Findings and Recommendations by Patrick Donovan, Director the Leadership Institute, and presentations by members of the diocesan Faith Formation team.

The Catechetical Report, 18 months in the making, includes best practices, “quick wins” and recommendations, which represent a blueprint for a new era of faith formation in the diocese.

“The day is structured to follow Bishop Caggiano’s call to re-imagine Faith Formation,” said Donovan, director of the diocesan Leadership Institute.

“Beginning with how we prepare parents for the baptism of their infant and all the way through welcoming the gift of those most senior in our community, this day is all about finding what works in Faith Formation and letting go of that which fails to engage, inspire or educate,” he said.

Donovan will discuss the Catechetic Report, which has been 18 months in the making and is expected to offer a blueprint for a new era of encounter and ongoing formation.

An invitation to Lifelong Formation, the 36-page catechetical report, is available in print and will be posted on line in many languages. It can be downloaded in its entirety or in individual sections. For more info visit www.formationreimagined.org

The presentation is offered free of charge and refreshments will be served. Registration to help with planning is encouraged but walk-ins are welcome.
