NORWALK—Deacon Dean W. Finch passed away on Thursday, May 31, at his home in Norwalk at the age of 72.
Bishop Frank J. Caggiano has asked all to pray for the repose of the soul of Deacon Finch and for the consolation of his family.
Deacon Finch was ordained a deacon of the Diocese of Bridgeport on June 24, 2000 at St. Augustine Cathedral by then-Archbishop Edward M. Egan of New York. Deacon Finch’s entire diaconal ministry was exercised at St. Jerome Parish in Norwalk.
Born in Batavia, New York on May 1, 1946, Deacon Finch graduated from Wyoming Central High School in New York and from the State University of New York at Albany in 1968, with a B.S. in Accounting. He subsequently was employed by the Citizens Utilities Company in Stamford as a Director of Internal Audit.
He married Beverly (Bragg) Finch at St. John the Baptist Church in New Orleans, Louisiana on June 15, 1973. The Finches are the parents of four daughters, one of whom died in infancy.
A wake will be held on Monday, June 4 at St. Jerome Church located at 23 Half Mile Road in Norwalk from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm Bishop Frank J. Caggiano will celebrate the Funeral Mass and Deacon Mark Shine will be the homilist on Tuesday, June 5 at 11:00 am at St. Jerome.
