Dr. Listy Thomas, Chair of Medicine

BRIDGEPORT—St. Vincent’s Medical Center is proud to announce that Listy Thomas, MD, MBA will assume the role of Chair of the Department of Medicine beginning August 1. In this position, Dr. Thomas will take on a dual leadership role with Quinnipiac University’s Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine.

Her leadership will strengthen a strategic partnership between Hartford HealthCare and Quinnipiac to build the workforce of tomorrow and grow student pipelines across a wide range of professions — including healthcare — to address long-term talent needs for Connecticut, and beyond.

“St. Vincent’s Medical Center is proud to have Dr. Listy Thomas serve in this dual leadership role. She has been a valued member of the medical staff for nearly 15 years as an emergency medicine physician and we look forward to her taking on this important role,” said Daniel Gottschall, MD, Vice President of Medical Affairs at St. Vincent’s Medical Center. “Her relationship with Quinnipiac University will further help to educate and prepare the next generation of health care workers which will address the future needs of our state.”

Dr. Thomas will continue in her role as a full professor and Assistant Dean of Simulation at the Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine. She will also serve as the academic chair of internal medicine at Quinnipiac Netter. At St. Vincent’s she will take on a leadership role in developing subspecialties under internal medicine such as pulmonary, endocrine and gastrointestinal. In addition, at St. Vincent’s she will oversee the graduate medical education programs as the Associate Designated Institutional Official, along with the medical center’s continuing medical education program and simulation programs with both Quinnipiac and Sacred Heart universities.

“On behalf of the entire faculty, staff, and students at QU Netter, I would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Listy Thomas on her new dual leadership roles as our academic chair of internal medicine and Assistant Dean of Simulation,” said Dr. Phillip Boiselle, dean of the Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine. “Dual-board certified in internal medicine and emergency medicine, Dr. Thomas brings a wealth of clinical experience and acumen to her new leadership roles, as well as a stellar record of accomplishments as an educator and scholar. Her dual leadership positions are an extension of our dynamic partnership between Hartford HealthCare and Quinnipiac and will serve to strengthen our ability to successfully advance our mission to deliver innovative excellence in medicaleducation at St. Vincent’s Medical Center and on our North Haven QU Netter campus.”

Dr. Thomas is board certified in Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine and is a practicing emergency medicine physician at St. Vincent’s. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Connecticut College of Emergency Physicians. Dr. Thomas received her medical degree from SUNY Downstate and completed her residency and internship at Long Island Jewish Medical Center.
