FAIRFIELD—Fairfield University has been ranked in the top 10 best Catholic colleges and universities nationwide in a new 2019 ranking conducted by College Consensus. Placed at No. 6 out of 131 colleges and universities included in this year’s review, Fairfield shares the top 10 distinction with schools including Notre Dame and Georgetown, and is the only Connecticut school among the top 10. Fairfield is also joined by only two other New England colleges and universities in its placement at the head of the ranking. Fairfield’s spot on the list places it in the top 5 percent of colleges and universities reviewed by College Consensus.
The university’s ranking factors in its “publisher rating”—the university’s combined rank from nationally and internationally cited publishers like WalletHub, the Wall Street Journal, and U.S. News and World Report—which totaled 80.4 points. The ranking also considered a “student review rating,” which gathers ratings from reputable student review websites such as Cappex, Niche and Students Review. Fairfield’s 71.5 student review rating, combined with its high achievement in the publisher rating, delivered an overall score of 75.9, placing the university at the fore of Catholic colleges and universities nationwide.
Compiled as an aggregate ranking, College Consensus’ 2019 survey gives both publisher rating and student review rating equal weight, thus aiming to highlight the colleges and universities that excel in providing students with academic, professional, social, and personal growth and development.
