Welcome to Faith Formation
The goal of the Office of Faith Formation is to foster, guide, and support the endeavor of life-long formation in the teachings of Christ and all aspects of the Catholic Faith on both the parish and diocesan levels.
Under the direction of the Bishop, chief catechist of the diocese, the Office of Faith Formation strives to accomplish this goal of catechesis and evangelization for all ages by supporting and building up the following:
The Diocesan Marriage Preparation Class is designed to be an engaging, enriching, and beautiful presentation of the teachings of our faith. Visit our Marriage Preparation page to read more and to register for required classes, offered several times throughout the year.
The Respect Life Ministry of the Diocese of Bridgeport strives to build a culture of life by upholding and promoting the dignity of human life from the moment of conception to natural death.
We work to implement the guidelines of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Pastoral Plan for Pro-Life Activities, in which we are called upon as church with our resources, our people, our services and institutions to pursue the cause of life with renewed energy and commitment. Visit our Respect life page for more information.
Project Rachel is a post-abortion healing ministry that offers compassionate help to men and women who have experienced emotional and/or spiritual pain after abortion.
Youth & Young Adults
C4Y (“Choir for Youth”) is a truly unique and beautiful way to connect young people from all over the Diocese who would have no other way to meet! Coming together in song and sharing their talents has bonded new friendships and continued to deepen their Faith. C4Y sings at Masses, and other venues as needed throughout the year as requested by Bishop Caggiano. Visit our page for audition information and upcoming events!
Catholic Service Corps
The Catholic Service Corps combines meaningful service to those in need with faith formation and Christian reflection. Young people of the Diocese are invited to a fuller understanding of their call to embrace a life of mercy and justice. The richness of both Scripture and Sacred Tradition, with a special emphasis on Catholic Social Teaching, provide the foundation for reflection and faith in action. Visit our website to learn how to get involved.
The Face of Prayer
The Diocese of Bridgeport has launched “The Face of Prayer 2.0” , an online video catechism based on the questions and concerns young people have about the Church and their faith.
The project was designed with teachers, catechists, and youth ministers in mind as well. On the site, ministers and educators can find concrete ways in which they can incorporate The Face of Prayer into their ministry and/or classroom.
Before beginning a Catholic Scouting program, visit our scouting page to ensure guidelines have been met all qualifications for the program and Diocese, as well as meeting deadlines associated with programs must be reviewed in order for the scout to be eligible for the Catholic Scouting award.
