Position Summary:
The Direct Service Provider Staff provides direct support and supervision to individuals with developmental disabilities and/or special needs in a structured DDS approved day program setting. This role focuses on promoting independence, skill development, community involvement, and overall quality of life for participants, while ensuring a safe, respectful, and engaging environment.
Key Responsibilities:
•
Provide direct supervision and support to participants during all program activities.
•
Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), which may include feeding, toileting, hygiene, and mobility assistance.
•
Facilitate and participate in recreational, educational, vocational, and life skills activities.
•
Implement Individual Plans (IPs) and track progress toward established goals.
•
Promote community integration by accompanying participants on outings and ensuring safety during travel.
•
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized program environment.
•
Support positive behavior management by implementing approved strategies and interventions.
•
Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and caregivers regarding participant needs, progress, and incidents.
•
Complete required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
•
Adherence to agency policies, procedures, and all relevant regulations.
Qualifications:
•
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework or certification in human services, special education, or related field preferred.
•
Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
•
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
•
Demonstrate empathy, patience, and professionalism when working with individuals with a range of abilities.
•
Proficiency in documentation and basic computer applications (Microsoft Office and database systems).
•
Ability to work as part of a collaborative team.
•
Ability to pass background checks and meet all state-required level clearances.
•
Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
•
PMT training and First Aid Certification (or completed within the first six months of employment).
Work Environment:
•
Position requires standing, walking, bending, and occasional lifting of up to 50-100 lbs.
•
Ability to assist individuals with physical disabilities, including use of lifts, gait belts, and other mobility aids.
•
Work takes place in a combination of indoor program settings and community environments.
•
May involve exposure to weather conditions during community outings.
Hours: Monday – Friday 7:00am-3:30pm
