St. Pius X Catholic Church
Summary:
Form young men and women to be passionate disciples of Jesus Christ. Coordinates all high school and middle school youth ministry activities for St. Pius. Meetings and activities are hosted on campus at Saint Pius X parish. The youth minister recruits and organizes a CORE team of volunteers, meets regularly with youth group members (weekly), and plans and executes extra spiritual, social, and service oriented activities open to the young people of Fairfield and surrounding communities.
GOALS
- Form young people to be disciples of Jesus Christ through prayer, discipleship, and formation.
- Create and form student leaders who seek to serve and grow the kingdom of God through regular formation.
- Communicate enthusiasm and joy for the Catholic faith among students, parents, and volunteers through relational ministry.
- Build a team of parish adults and mentors to serve as leaders and witnesses for young
- Create a sense of Christian community and involvement among CORE team and students through fellowship, prayer, and formation.
JOB RESPONSIBLITIES include, but is not limited to, the following:
Program Development
- Plan, organize, and supervise, with CORE Team, year-long weekly large-group high school and middle school
- Plan, organize, and supervise small group formation opportunities for student leaders.
- Develop, maintain, and regularly update across all parish communication channels (bulletin, social media, email, and website) highlighting social, service, and spiritual opportunities of encounter. Visit fairfieldlt.com.
- Plan an annual or bi-annual retreat for high school and
- Plan, and fundraise for, an annual summer trip for high school
- Foster involvement of youth in the life of parishes and local community, including liturgical ministries, elementary faith formation, and other parish
- Recruit CORE adult leadership team and coordinate training, support, and evaluation of volunteers
Communication
- Oversee all youth ministry communication with both parents and students across all communication channels bulletin, social media, email, and website. (Instagram and Facebook), etc. Must communicate weekly on all channels.
- Quarterly updates about youth ministry through all communication channel (bulletin, email, and social media).
- Maintain a database of Youth Ministry Participants and volunteers through “Flocknote.”
Administration
- Reports to Pastor.
- Annually assist with long range planning, budgeting, and program
- Works with parish safe environments coordinator to ensure that all adults are in full compliance with diocesan safe environment policy.

Qualifications and Aptitude:
- A practicing Roman Catholic in good standing, grounded in a relationship with Jesus Christ and his Church, who understands and clearly articulates the mission and purpose of the church to save souls and make disciples.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree
- Must be VIRTUS trained.
- 2-3 years of prior youth and/or young adult ministry experience, parish ministry, or related field of work.
- Willingness to stay in this position for at least 3-5
- A self-motivated leader, capable of casting a vision for ministry to students, parents, CORE team, and parish staff while following through with execution of strategies and plans.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, conflict management skills, managerial skills, and proficiency with contemporary means of communication and technology.
- Must possess a proven ability to work effectively with youth, diverse individuals, and adults.
- Exemplifies personal excellence, teamwork, joyful sacrifice, and is in good emotional
- Is teachable and willing to learn.
