Listen to “The Voice Inside”

WESTPORT—Composer and musician Marlane Tubridy, a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Weston, has released a new video of her composition, “The Voice Inside,”

“I chose to do the video now because of Pentecost and to bring awareness of the Holy Spirit being with us every day of the year, 365,” she said. “The Voice Inside” celebrates the presence of God’s Holy Spirit within us, to guide us and to teach us.

Tubridy, who is also founder and director of the Cantiamo Choir, said she based the composition on three biblical passages:

Ezekiel 36: 26-27: “And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you”
John 14:16 “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever..”
John 16: 13: “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.”

“These were the verses that were in my heart and on my mind as I started to compose a song that would speak to the Holy Spirit that lies within us,” she said.

“Each of us hopes to and want to have a sense of what we are suppose to be doing and what God’s will is for us. How should we use the talents He has given us? How to make decisions in our lives both now and in the future. The song speaks to the Spirit inside and asks for guidance.

The piece was originally composed in 2004 when her  sons were just getting into their mid teens, and she wanted to speak to them about listening to the guidance of the Holy Spirit inside in a way that prompted them to do the “seeking and listening to their inner voice.”

One of the most treasured gifts that we receive from God is His Holy Spirit that resides within us. The image of the Holy Spirit is “waiting” to speak to us if we only ask and then take time to ‘listen.”

Tubridy earned a bachelors in Music at Kent State University and  Masters from New York University. She has also studied at Juilliard School of Music and LaScala, Milano, Italy.
