TRUMBULL—My husband Tony needs a living donor kidney to live.
Tony has been a member of Saint Catherine’s of Siena for over 37 years. Our Pastor, Father Marcello, has been a wonderful support and has been helping us get the word out.
As I was reading the Fairfield County Catholic paper it occurred to me that it would be wonderful if Tony’s story could be told in the paper. Father Marcello was kind enough to share your contact information. Who better to help us get the word out and help us find a donor?
Tony is in end-stage renal failure and on daily peritoneal dialysis. He is connected to the peritoneal dialysis machine for 9-11 hours a day. It often fails to work properly, further threatening his survival. Only a kidney transplant can save his life.
If you can tell Tony’s story, it might encourage someone to come forward to save him. Here is little about Tony so you know about this extraordinary man.
Anthony Mongillo, MD (known to his friends as Tony), has dedicated his life to helping others and saving lives. He is a very religious man. He has done so much good and helped so many. Now he needs help.
Tony maintained a private practice in Bridgeport, Connecticut as an Internist and geriatrician. He has also worked with a local ministry helping battered women and with those who could not afford medical care. Simultaneously, he served as the Corporate Medical Advisor to Sikorsky Aircraft for the past 39 years. He was forced to retire due to his medical condition and he misses working!
Tony is a loyal friend and a devoted family man. He raised his daughter and his handicapped son after losing his wife at a young age. He now has two grandsons that light up his life and he wants to live to be there for them.
Living donors save lives and make miracles happen! A person only needs one kidney to lead a healthy life, so donation is a gift of the highest order! It is the gift of life!
Time is of the essence. Every day gets harder and every night gets longer.
Tony is on the active transplant list at Montefiore Hospital in New York and is registered at the National Kidney Registry. You can find more information about Tony and organ donation in general on the website Kidney4Tony.com.
