Merged Greenwich Parishes to Celebrate “Founding”

GREENWICH—On June 14, 2019, Bishop Frank J. Caggiano announced the merging of the parishes of St. Agnes in Greenwich with St. Catherine of Siena in Riverside to create the Parish of St. Catherine of Siena and St. Agnes. The decision came after a long period of dialogue and discernment, and the official consolidation of parishes went into effect on July 1, 2019.

In celebration of this merger, the Parish of St. Catherine of Siena and St. Agnes is planning a celebration of the “Founding of the Parish,” set for the weekend of November 23-24.

Events of the weekend will include: a Holy Hour held at St. Agnes Church at 5 pm on Saturday; Adoration throughout the night, for which parishioners can sign up to keep watch; Benediction and a procession with the Blessed Sacrament from St. Agnes to the Chapel of St. Catherine of Siena beginning at 7:45 am; Reposition of the Blessed Sacrament will begin at 9:15 am followed by a 10:30 am Mass celebrated by Bishop Caggiano and including a blessing to celebrate the new parish. The weekend will conclude with a reception in the Lucey Parish Hall of St. Catherine of Siena!

Please join in the celebration; all are welcome!
