Parish rally to explore “relationships and addiction”

REDDING—St. Patrick Parish in Redding will sponsor an important conversation on relationships and addiction on Saturday, December 2, 12:00pm, 169 Black Rock Turnpike in Redding.

The program will be led by John Hamilton, world-renowned expert on addiction, along with nationally known author and Catholic speaker Dom Quaglia and singer-songwriter/contemporary worship leader Sarah Kroger.

“This Come Holy Spirit rally is in response to the scourge of the present state of drug and alcohol addiction that is destroying families and youth. God is calling us and we are answering,” said Fr. Joseph Cervero, Pastor.

The program will begin with lunch at noon; first breakout session begins at 2 pm, second session begins at 3:30 and we end the day with Adoration and Mass at 5:15.

Program Schedule:

12 NOON LUNCH
Lunch will be served in the parish hall kicking off the start of our community fellowship and prayer together. This meal will be provided by the parish consisting of a traditional barbecue of hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken breasts, various salads and dessert.

2 PM THROUGH 3 PM “RELATIONSHIPS”
This breakout session will consist of a discussion about all types of relationships; the personal relationship with our Lord, inside our families, with peers and colleagues and dating. This session will be led by Dom Quaglia and his wife Sarah Kroger.

3 PM THROUGH 3:20 PM “Short Break”

3:30 PM THROUGH 4:45 PM “ADDICTION”
John Hamilton, with his extraordinary credential, will present on the current state of addiction here in Connecticut and across the country. Obviously this is a huge subject desperately needing open dialogue with all of our youth, parents and grandparents alike.

SPEAKERS:

JOHN HAMILTON is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Alcohol and Drug counselor. As Chief Clinical Outreach Officer for Mountainside Treatment Center, he communicates the depth and intricacies of Mountainside’s portfolio of programs and offerings, which have redefined addiction treatment for thousands of individuals across the country. John has been a consultant for the National Institute for Drug Abuse (NIDA) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration (SAMHSA). He currently chairs the advisory board for the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) and serves on the Governors Alcohol and Drug Policy Council. He also has led an addiction treatment organization as CEO while simultaneously maintaining a successful private practice. When not spreading the word about Mountainside, John enjoys spending time with his family.

SARAH KROGER is a worship leader and song writer from Melbourne, FL. Inspired by scripture, the writings of the Saints, and her own life experiences, she released her first EP in 2011 entitled “Your Time”, followed by “Hallelujah is Our Song” and several single releases. Sarah is passionate about delivering the message “that we are fearfully and wonderfully made.” (Ps 139)…that even in the midst of chaos, confusion, pain, suffering and sin, we can always find hope in Jesus. Her songs, stories, and heart for worship have made for a unique and intimate experience of
prayer at a range of national and international events. Her goal as a worship leader is to “…create a space for people to encounter God in an authentic, personal way. ”She lives with her husband in Nashville, TN.

DOM QUAGLIA is a nationally sought-after Catholic speaker and author serving at parish missions, retreats, private events and conferences throughout the USA and abroad. His speaking and writing have helped people of all ages lean further into the Gospel and apply it to their lives. When he’s not on the road speaking, he can be found playing music or laying in the sun with his wife, Sarah, and their two iPhones.
