BRIDGEPORT— Bishop Frank J. Caggiano will share his vision for lifelong Faith Formation at the “People of Joy” Faith Formation Day this Saturday, 8:30 to 2:30 at the Catholic Center, 238 Jewett Avenue in Bridgeport.
All those who serve in ministry are invited and encouraged to join in the day, which will include the release of the much-anticipated Catechetical Task Force Report, and other presentations.
“The day is structured to follow Bishop Caggiano’s call to re-imagine Faith Formation,” said Patrick Donovan, director of the diocesan Leadership Institute.
“Beginning with how we prepare parents for the baptism of their infant and all the way through welcoming the gift of those most senior in our community, this day is all about finding what works in Faith Formation and letting go of that which fails to engage, inspire or educate,” he said.
Donovan will discuss the Catechetic Report, which has been 18 months in the making and is expected to offer a blueprint for a new era of encounter and ongoing formation.
Fr. Tom Gaunt, SJ, Ph.D.. Executive Director of CARA , will discuss the “Changing Face of the Catholic Family,” and noted Catholic composer and musician John Angotti will lead prayer and song.
Breakout session will be offered on topics including; Parents as First Teachers; Quick Wins: Early Childhood Faith Formation; Understanding Generation Z; Best Practice in Adult Education, and Capture the Gift of the Aged.
