Renewing Our Lenten Journey

The following Lenten reflection originally appeared on Bishop Frank Caggiano’s Facebook page. Follow the Bishop for daily reflections and weekly videos throughout this sacred season!

With yesterday’s celebration of the Fourth Sunday in Lent, we have reached the half way point of our Lenten journey. It is called Laetare Sunday precisely to give us joyful encouragement that our Lenten disciplines will soon give way to the enduring joy of Easter, now only a few weeks away.

Today is a good day for you and me to take stock of how we are doing in our Lenten practices and reflection? Have we remained faithful to the resolutions that we made at the start of this special season of prayer and reflection? Are we spending more time in prayer, reflecting upon the merciful love of God who calls us to repentance, conversion and renewal? Are we still mindful of the special character of these weeks and asking each day for the grace to grow in holiness of life?

If the answer to any of these questions is no, do not be discouraged. Today is a good time to renew our journey and to keep moving forward!
