SHU Discovery Science Center & Planetarium to hold grand reopening

FAIRFIELD—On Friday, September 17, at 10 a.m., the Sacred Heart University Discovery Science Center & Planetarium (formerly the Discovery Museum & Planetarium) will hold a grand reopening and ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate its recent renovations. The Discovery Science Center was closed and ran programs virtually during the pandemic. Due to support from local foundations, the state and Sacred Heart, significant upgrades and improvements were made during the last year—making the Discovery Science Center a state-of-the-art facility and a true jewel to the Fairfield County community.

Members of the Sacred Heart community, town, city and state officials will gather at the SHU Discovery Science Center for a ribbon-cutting ceremony. They will tour the Discovery Science Center’s new enhancements and immersive exhibits including the renovated planetarium, playscape, hall of space, “Be the Dinosaur” exhibit and more. The center officially opens to the public on Saturday, September 25 and they are encouraged to buy tickets in advance at the Discovery Science Center website. Every Wednesday, starting September 29, there will be free admission for Bridgeport residents who can show proof of residency.

The Sacred Heart University Discovery Science Center & Planetarium is located at 4450 Park Ave., Bridgeport, CT.
