A Special Day at the St. Camillus Center

STAMFORD—Sunday, July 23 was a very festive day at St. Camillus Center in Stamford. One of the residents, James Edward Nickerson was baptized and received his First Holy Communion.

Born in 1970, his family had ‘dedicated’ him to the Lord in a religious ceremony when he was a child. Since his arrival at St. Camillus as a resident, he has been a frequent participant at daily Mass in the Chapel and recently asked to officially become a member of the Catholic Faith.

His sister and her husband, Debbie and Santos Alicea, served as his godparents and the three religious sisters who serve in the Pastoral Care Team at the Center also participated.

“Sisters Jyothy, Bala and Ana are members of the Franciscans of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and shared in the joy as I had the privilege of baptizing Jimmy. This was during the 11:30 am Sunday Mass so that the other residents could participate in this happy occasion,” said Fr. Matthew R. Mauriello, Chaplain and member of the Pastoral Care team at St. Camillus.

St. Camillus Center is a 124-bed skilled nursing facility owned by Genesis Health conveniently located at 494 Elm Street in Stamford. Together with the Diocese of Bridgeport, it is focused on providing quality healthcare while maintaining our Catholic identity and mission of the center.
