TRUMBULL—The combined school and parish communities at St. Catherine of Siena rejoiced on Saturday afternoon, when the youngest students of St. Catherine of Siena School retold the story of the Nativity in a beautiful pageant, superbly accompanied by the school chorus.
All headed to the front lawn of the church following the Pageant, where Father Joseph Marcello, Pastor, led those gathered in a countdown to the Second Annual Lighting of the Parish Christmas Tree. Fr. Marcello notes: “The tree will remain lit throughout the Christmas Season as a beacon to all, encouraging our friends in Christ to come home for Christmas, and to welcome the infant Jesus into our hearts and homes this season.” The celebration concluded with hot chocolate and Christmas cookies in the Church Hall.
The church was packed for the events in which the community also celebrated Gaudete Sunday. Gaudete is the Latin word for “Rejoice.” It marks the point during Advent when the waiting is nearly over, and the great gift of Jesus Christ is soon to arrive. The festivities immediately followed the 4pm Mass.
The Parish of Saint Catherine of Siena warmly welcomes anyone who is new to our area, anyone who is searching for the truth, or anyone who is looking for a spiritual home. We are joyfully and faithfully Roman Catholic in belief and practice—a community of faith, worship, service, and formation—and with open hearts we invite all our brothers and sisters into a living and saving friendship with the Lord Jesus Christ, in the communion of His One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. We are conveniently located at 220 Shelton Road in the Nichols area of Trumbull.
