FAIRFIELD—On Saturday, August 25th, the Athletic Association hosted its first Welcome Back event. The purpose of this event was to welcome new families to Notre Dame and welcome back athletes and coaches at the start of the fall sports season. The event was free to all who attended and considered to be a “friend” raiser instead of a fundraiser.
The Athletic Association served Italian Ice to all who attended and provided backyard games like corn hole and can jam for everyone to play. Over 100 people attended this event including coaches and athletes from the football team, girls’ volleyball team, boys’ and girls’ soccer teams, and the baseball team. While the athletes were tired from their pre-season practices, they still managed to take part in the games and activities.
The Athletic Association plans on hosting another free event similar to this one at the start of each athletic season. These “friend” raisers are a way to bring together the Notre Dame athletic community off the competitive field of play.
Anyone interested in becoming a family member of the Athletic Association, can visit the Athletic Association webpage on the Notre Dame website. The first meeting of the Athletic Association for the 2018-2019 school year will be held on Wednesday, September 19th at 6 pm in the library. ALL are welcome!
