Youth Choir Films Christmas Concert for Shalom World TV

Christmas came early to Choir for Youth (C4Y) members this weekend! The Diocesan Youth Choir spent Friday and Saturday filming a TV Christmas Concert, which will air on Shalom World TV on Christmas Day.

“Filming with the Shalom TV crew has been a beautiful opportunity for the Choir,” said Choir Director Mary Bozzuti-Higgins, “Our young men and women were so honored and excited to be involved in this project!”

Starting on Friday, the Shalom TV crew began interviewing choir participants, along with Bishop Frank Caggiano, and Director Mary Bozzuti-Higgins for segments that would air before and after the concert.

“I’m thrilled our choir, which has grown so large, and so diverse over the past three years, has become united by the gift of music,” Bishop Frank shared. “Airing their concert on Shalom TV allows them to share this great gift with everyone who may watch it!”

After a Friday afternoon of interviews, the choir reconvened on Saturday at St. Augustine Cathedral to film the concert. The Choir sung favorites Arise and Shine, and Celtic Christmas Lullaby, along with two more songs prepared for this year’s Arise and Shine Christmas Concert.

Viewers will be able to find the Christmas Concert on Shalom World TV’s website and their mobile app, which is available on the Apple Store, Google Play Store, and Apple TV. It will air throughout the month of December, including on Christmas Day, though the time has yet to be determined.

Speaking on C4Y’s vision during one of the Shalom TV interviews, Bishop Frank explained the impetus for the choir.

“It is so important in our age, when so many young people are categorized or boxed into things, or feel pressure to be the best at everything, to have the opportunity to relax and enjoy the things they love. This choir allows them to do just that, to share their love of Jesus, each other, and music, with the world!”

The choir will perform their third annual Christmas Concert on Sunday, December 17th at 7pm at the Quick Center on Fairfield University’s campus. Tickets will go on sale later next week.
