Donate Cryptocurrency
Avoid capital gains taxes and maximize your charitable impact. When you donate cryptocurrency directly, 100% of the net proceeds go to your chosen parish, school, or ministry—without any processing fees.
The Diocese of Bridgeport accepts crypto gifts through FreeWill’s Crypto for Charity, a secure platform that converts your donation to cash and ensures it is distributed according to your intent.
How to Make a Cryptocurrency Gift
- 1. Notify Us (Recommended)If you are planning to make a gift, we encourage you to contact us in advance. This allows us to confirm designation and ensure your donation is tracked and acknowledged appropriately.
- 2. Visit the Donation PortalGo to: cryptoforcharity.io
Under “Choose a nonprofit" and enter: Diocese of Bridgeport - 3. Select Your Coin and AmountChoose the type and amount of cryptocurrency you wish to donate.
- 4. Designate Your GiftIn the memo section:
- Include the name and city of the parish, school, or ministry
- Specify any restrictions (e.g., capital campaign, tuition assistance, food pantry) If no restriction is listed, the receiving entity will determine the most effective use of the funds. - 5. Provide Your Contact InformationEnter your email address to receive a tax acknowledgment from FreeWill’s Crypto for Charity. This is required for gifts of $250 or more to meet IRS substantiation requirements.
- 6. Complete the Transfer- Connect your crypto wallet using one of the available options
- Review your submission and click Done - 7. Confirm With the DioceseEmail Arlene Perricone, Controller, at Arlene.Perricone@diobpt.org once your donation has been submitted.
