Bridgeport’s Bishop
The Most Reverend Frank J. Caggiano was installed as Fifth Bishop of Bridgeport on September 19, 2013 at St. Theresa Church in Trumbull, CT. Since then, he has led a mission of renewal throughout Fairfield County, calling the faithful to a deeper encounter with Christ through vibrant community, compassionate service to those in need, and a renewed devotion to the Sacraments.
Meet Our Bishop
Bishop Frank J. Caggiano was born in Brooklyn in 1959 to Italian immigrant parents and was raised in Sts. Simon and Jude Parish. After initially studying political science at Yale, he discerned a call to the priesthood, earning a degree in philosophy instead.
Ordained in 1987, he served in various pastoral roles in Brooklyn before being appointed auxiliary bishop in 2006.
In 2013, Pope Francis named him Bishop of Bridgeport, where he has led initiatives for diocesan renewal, youth engagement, evangelization, and Catholic education.
