TRUMBULL, June 19, 2026 — Bishop Frank J. Caggiano has announced the appointment of Father Joseph A. Marcello, Pastor of St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Trumbull, as Chair of the Board of Directors of St. Joseph High School, effective July 1, 2026.

The appointment carries particular significance: Father Marcello is a proud alumnus of St. Joseph’s Class of 1994 and a former school chaplain, making his return to the institution in a leadership role a homecoming as much as an appointment.

“Fr. Marcello is a familiar and beloved member of the St. Joseph community,” said Bishop Caggiano. “His return to St. Joseph High School in this leadership role will be a blessing to the school as it continues to build upon its strong foundation and prepare students to become faithful disciples and servant leaders.”

“The appointment of Father Marcello as the new Chairman of the St. Joseph High School Board of Directors is wonderful news for our school community,” said David Klein, the President of St. Joseph’s High School.  “Father Marcello’s return to St. Joe’s is a full circle moment preceded by his time as a Cadet (’94), serving as the Spiritual Director (2005-2009) and now the Board of Directors’ Chairman. His focused leadership will ensure the continuation of our strong family culture, important school and community traditions and, most importantly, the unwavering commitment to Catholic Identity and the Mission of St. Joseph High School. Father Marcello’s return to St. Joseph High School is a blessing and proof that you can always ‘Come Home To Joe!”

The appointment is part of the Diocese of Bridgeport’s broader renewal initiative, The One, which is committed to renewing the life of faith throughout parishes, schools, and ministries across Fairfield County. As part of that effort, Bishop Caggiano has identified the engagement of local clergy in school leadership as one way to strengthen the connection between parish, school, and family and keep the mission of the Church at the center of Catholic education.

Father Marcello’s appointment also follows the tenure of Christopher Wilson, who is stepping down as Board Chair after years of dedicated service. Mr. Wilson guided St. Joseph through a significant governance transition, establishing a fiduciary Board of Directors that strengthens the school’s capacity to fulfill its mission well into the future.

“Mr. Wilson has been a steadfast supporter of St. Joseph High School and a thoughtful leader whose commitment to the school has been evident in every aspect of his service,” said Bishop Caggiano. “His leadership, generosity, and unwavering dedication have left a lasting impact, and the Diocese of Bridgeport is deeply grateful.”

Connecticut’s largest co-ed Catholic college preparatory school, St. Joseph High School has formed students in faith, scholarship, and service since 1962. For more information, visit sjcadets.org.
