DECREE MODIFYING THE DIOCESAN DEANERIES
Canon 374 §2 establishes that to foster pastoral care by means of common action, several neighboring parishes can be joined together in special groups, such as Vicariates Forane. These vicariates in the Diocese of Bridgeport are denominated Deaneries.
Having consulted the Council of Deans, I, Most Reverend Frank J. Caggiano, Bishop of Bridgeport, do hereby modify the Deaneries in the following manner:
Queen Assumed into Heaven Deanery will be modified to include the parishes of Westport
I order that the provisions of this decree have firm and stable effect, notwithstanding anything to the contrary, even if worthy of special mention, and that they be promulgated by inclusion in the official diocesan newspaper, The Fairfield County Catholic, entering into force on July 1, 2026.
Furthermore, I order that the present provisions be duly communicated electronically and/ or by ordinary mail to all pastors, administrators or clerics in charge of diocesan parishes, quasi-parishes, shrines, oratories and chapels that are subject to these provisions.
