DISCOVER WAYS TO REST, RENEW, AND GROW CLOSER TO GOD

This issue of the Bridge explores the gift of summer rest, and shares the first in a new series of conversion stories from among this year's 565 converts to the Catholic faith.

Summer can be a good time to start watching some of the Apologetics classes available online, taught by our diocesan apologist, Suan Sonna. These classes help adults of any age explain the truths of faith with confidence to others. Links to the classes can be found in the Bridge.

Links to the most recent Let Me Be Frank episodes and much more can also be found in this issue of the Bridge.

This September 23 through October 1, 2026, the Diocese of Bridgeport launches a new annual tradition: a nine-night novena honoring St. Pio of Pietrelcina, traveling parish to parish with veneration of his authenticated relics. This issue of the Bridge has the full schedule and details.

Our Bishop

The Most Reverend Frank J. Caggiano

Bishop Frank J. Caggiano is the fifth and current bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Bridgeport. In the first year of his leadership, the diocese hosted the Fourth Synod of the Diocese of Bridgeport—the first in 32 years—as an opportunity for reform and renewal by empowering the young Church, building up communities of faith, fostering evangelical outreach, and promoting works of charity and justice.

Since then, Bishop Caggiano has overseen the launch of the Institute for Catholic Formation, foundations to support works of charity, faith, and education, the formation of guilds for specific professions and devotions to grow in Christian discipleship in prayer and formation, and other ongoing initiatives to revitalize the liturgical and pastoral life of the diocese and to further engage the youth and young adults.
