STAMFORD—The Catholic Academy of Stamford has named veteran educator Chris Robertson as its new Head of School.
“Mr. Robertson brings with him a wealth of experience in education, including many years of service as both a teacher and school leader,” said Stacie Stueber, superintendent of schools for the Diocese of Bridgeport. “Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a strong ability to foster academic excellence while also nurturing school cultures rooted in faith, relationships, and joyful community life.”
Robertson has more than three decades of experience as a K-8 educator and school leader. He taught elementary school for 14 years before transitioning to school leadership. He recently served as principal of St. James School, where he worked with the teachers to implement new curricula and increase the school’s Catholic identity.
Under his leadership the school’s enrollment increased from 225 to 345 students, several new classes were added, the security infrastructure was enhanced and the early childhood program grew.
Robertson holds certifications in elementary, secondary education and in school administration. He also has a masters of science in elementary education, and a sixth-year degree in school leadership with a focus on social-emotional learning and social justice, according to the Catholic Academy of Stamford. He is the director of the Catholic Schools Leadership Development Institute and a faculty member of the Aquinas Institute for Teacher Formation.
Since officially joining the Catholic Academy of Stamford on July 1, he has been meeting one-on-one with faculty and staff.
“I am deeply impressed by the faith-filled culture and dedicated educators,” Robertson said. “The teachers at CAS love their work and their school. A remarkable education begins when children feel cared for, respected and challenged to reach their fullest potential. Based on my conversations, it is clear to me that the children at CAS are not only prepared for success in high school, but for lives of purpose, leadership and service.”
