Diocese of Bridgeport to Host Pilgrimage to Washington, D.C., October 23–24

Pilgrimage to Washington DC

The faithful of the Diocese of Bridgeport are invited join a two-day pilgrimage to Washington, D.C. this October, a journey of faith, prayer, and fellowship to sacred sites in our nation’s capital.

The pilgrimage will take place October 23 to 24, 2026, and will include the Vicar General of the Diocese, Msgr. Robert Kinnally, pastor of St. Aloysius Parish in New Canaan.

“A pilgrimage is never simply a trip,” Bishop Caggiano has often reminded the faithful of our diocese. “It is a journey of the heart, an invitation to walk more closely with Christ and to encounter Him anew in the places where His people have gathered in prayer for generations.” This pilgrimage offers exactly that opportunity, drawing pilgrims into the heart of the nation’s capital and into the heart of our shared Catholic story.

Pilgrims will depart from Bridgeport by private motorcoach on the morning of October 23 and arrive in Washington by mid afternoon. The group will attend Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, the largest Catholic church in North America, followed by a guided tour of the Shrine and dinner together before an overnight stay in the city.

On the second day, pilgrims will visit the Saint John Paul II National Shrine, where they will attend Mass and reflect on the life and legacy of the beloved saint whose witness shaped the Church for a generation. The group will then travel to the campus of The Catholic University of America for a tour and lecture by the school’s president, Dr. Peter K. Kilpatrick, before departing for home, with a stop for lunch along the way.

The pilgrimage package includes a Verso Pilgrimage Director, transportation by private motorcoach, double occupancy hotel accommodations, meals as indicated on the itinerary, gratuities, the opportunity for daily Mass, and a pilgrim kit with spiritual resources and a custom booklet. The cost is $998 per person, with a $300 deposit due at registration.

Space is limited, and those interested in joining Msgr. Kinnally, and their fellow pilgrims are encouraged to register early.
