Greenwich Catholic School recently received the 2026 Catholic School Leadership Award for Excellence in STREAM Education from Fordham University for its St. Carlo Acutis Innovation Lab.

The recognition celebrates Greenwich Catholic’s commitment to innovation, academic excellence and preparing students for the future through its STREAM curriculum. STREAM is an educational framework that combines Science, Technology, Religion/Reading, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics so that the subjects are interconnected.

Fordham’s Center for Catholic School Leadership and Faith-Based Education honors schools that demonstrate visionary leadership and excellence in faith-based education.

“We are deeply honored that Fordham University and the Diocese of Bridgeport have recognized the Saint Carlo Acutis Innovation Lab, said Head of School Rebecca Steck. “This recognition affirms our commitment to preparing students for the future through innovation, creativity and purposeful use of technology, all while remaining firmly rooted in our Catholic faith. We strive to help students use their God-given talents to explore, create and serve others.”

She said the curriculum was inspired by Saint Carlo Acutis, who died of leukemia at 15 in 2006 and was canonized on September 7, 2025. He is the first millennial saint and considered the patron saint of the Internet. With his self-taught coding skills, he created a website that catalogued Eucharistic miracles throughout history.
