SGIA Medicare Consulting

As part of our commitment to enhancing employee benefits, the Diocese has collaborated with SGIA, an organization specializing in Medicare assistance programs, to provide guidance for employees regarding their available choices.

The Diocese of Bridgeport, in partnership with SGIA Medicare Consulting and the Reta Trust, offers a free Medicare Assistance Program for lay employees and eligible dependents. The program is designed to help individuals navigate the often-complex Medicare enrollment process and better understand coverage options including Medicare Parts A, B, C, D, Medicare Advantage, and Medicare Supplement plans.

Through SGIA’s personalized four-step process — education, needs assessment, enrollment assistance, and ongoing support — employees receive one-on-one guidance tailored to their healthcare and retirement needs. Assistance is available for employees approaching age 65, active employees continuing to work past 65, retirees transitioning from employer coverage, and family members helping care for Medicare-eligible loved ones.

The program also provides support with:

  • Medicare enrollment timelines and election periods
  • Employer verification forms
  • Medicare Advantage and Supplement plan comparisons
  • Prescription drug coverage (Part D)
  • Coordination of benefits during retirement transitions
Employees and dependents are encouraged to review the presentation materials and contact SGIA directly for personalized guidance and enrollment assistance.

Employees who are Medicare-eligible or currently enrolled are strongly encouraged to participate in these informational webinars. SGIA will guide attendees through the evaluation process, assist in determining whether Medicare should serve as primary coverage, and clarify how supplemental plans can be coordinated with Medicare to achieve comprehensive and cost-effective coverage.
