Assumption Catholic School teacher is News 12’s Hometown Hero

FAIRFIELD— Ms. Andrade, second-grade teacher at Assumption Catholic School has been selected as news12CT Hometown Hero for her work within the school and with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, which helps fund research and supports families of children battling cancer.

She and her classes over the last nine years have reached a fundraising goal of $10,000. Each month they sell lemonade throughout the school for the foundation and learn entrepreneurship, sales, marketing and enhance their math efforts by running this stand at snack and lunch.

Ms. Andrade has now increased her goal to $15,000 for the Foundation. In addition, the founder and mother of Alex will be coming to Assumption to present an award to Ms. Andrade and her second-graders, and offer a presentation on her work, Alex and more.
