St. Rose 8th-grade: ‘this class will always be a family’

NEWTOWN—This Sunday, June 6, St. Rose School held its graduation ceremony at St. Rose Church for the 8th grade class of 2021. Wearing caps and gowns (boys in blue, girls in white), the graduating class processed in two-by-two to the front pews of the church followed by teachers from grades K-8, Mr. Gjoka, Sister Thaddeus and former Principals Mrs. Mary Maloney (now president of Immaculate High School) and Sister Colleen Smith.

Mass was celebrated by Msgr. Robert Weiss followed by the bestowal of diplomas, highest average awards and scholarships. Two students spoke about their years at St. Rose School and their hopes for this class going forward.

They said that no matter when they came to St. Rose, many started in preschool but many joined in subsequent years including a group in 8th grade this year, the class is and always will be a family.  After the ceremony graduates gathered on the steps of the church to do the traditional cap toss.
