Prayer Vigil Planned to Honor the Unborn

A Prayerful Rosary March will take place on Friday, January 22 from 4:00-5:00 pm at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Trumbull. This event, occurring on the 48th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion, is an opportunity for those unable to attend the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C. to come together and pray for the unborn.

Fr. Eric Silva, chaplain at St. Joseph High School in Trumbull, will lead the candlelight rosary procession and be joined by students from the school along with members of the Knights of Columbus from St. Theresa Church. Beginning at the Memorial to the Unborn, the group will walk in prayer through one section of the cemetery.

“Even if people can’t get to the March of Life, this is something we can do locally,” said Susan Monks, a Catholic Cemetery Family Counselor who is organizing the event. “The rosary is the most powerful prayer. We pray for the unborn – those who have no voice – and for the hope that Roe v. Wade is overturned.”

The Gate of Heaven Cemetery is located at 1056 Daniels Farm Road in Trumbull. In case of inclement weather, the event will be postponed to the following Friday, January 29. For more information, contact Susan Monks at 203-268-5574.
